Carpet Cleaning
|
In the quest to better serve their consumers three major carpet mills have made part of their
warranties a certification program to insure the carpets are cleaned professionally. The three
mills are Shaw, Mohawk, and Beaulieu, they are three of the top mills and producers in the
United States. As of January of 2007 it was mandatory that certain carpets they produce must be
cleaned with certified equipment in order to keep the warranty in effect. In 2008 it will become
mandatory that chemicals and technicians also be certified. In our hope to always rise above the
standard we have already complied with the equipment and technician certification, and as they
become available we are already implementing certified chemicals.

Our Techniques
We use a wide variety of cleaning techniques to ensure that your carpet looks and smells brand new.
We use a number of different cleaning processes, depending upon the type of carpet. When we clean your
carpets, A-Town / Hi-Tech will also provide you a free bottle of carpet spotter, to be used between
professional cleanings.
Here are some of the cleaning processes used by A-Town Hi-Tech:
Hot Water Extraction
Most commonly called "steam cleaning," carpets are treated with a surfactant chemical (shampoo) then agitated
with a rake to get the chemical into the fibers. The chemical is given a dwell time to loosen embedded soil, then
rinsed with a pH-balanced rinse at about 150 degrees. The carpet is then raked again, to stand the fibers up to
lessen the drying time. Normal drying time is six to eight hours. This process is used on about 90% of all carpets.
Manufactures of nylon carpet recommend it in their warranty.

Encapsulation
A water-based chemical is applied to the carpet in a fine mist and then buffed with a bonnet on the bottom of a
rotary scrubber. The bonnet picks up the surface dirt and the balance is encapsulated and will be removed by
vacuuming when completely dry. Normal drying time is one to two hours. This process was designed for commercial
glued-down carpet, but works extremely well on Berber carpet also.
