IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT)

Comprehensive deodorization and decontamination—a must for every restoration technician! We'll begin the course with general concepts, such as how odor is perceived, odor types, the difference between "real" and "psychological" odor, how odor is amplified, and how it penetrates surfaces. This one-day course emphasizes the importance of understanding the job scope and regulatory issues (OSHA, EPA) involving risk management and loss containment. It covers the types and underlying principles of odor contamination, sources, containment and six options for removing odor and contamination. It also covers particles as irritants, toxic gases, smoke odor, cleaning contaminated surfaces and recreating the conditions of odor permeation with appropriate counteractants. Additionally, the course covers PPE, chemical agent application and safety concerns, equipment, terminology and demonstrations of deodorization and decontamination equipment, sprayers, wet foggers, dry foggers, and ozone generators. Loss management is covered by highlighting common deodorization and decontamination losses. We'll also cover step-by-step procedures for dealing with animal urine, freezer power failure, decomposed animals, skunk odor, a sum-mary of rules for bloodborne pathogens, smoke odor, contents and automotive odor issues.

IICRC Commercial Carpet Maintenance Technician (CCMT)

April 6-8, 2008

This three-day course includes hands-on demonstrations of seven (7) cleaning methods: dry compound, bonnet, shampoo, encapsulation, soil extraction transfer, hot water ex-traction and combination methods, including state-of-the-art technology.

In this course, you will learn to clean 10,000 ft2 of commercial carpet per hour and dry it in under 30 minutes, to fulfill your facility manager’s requirements. This course includes fibers, carpet constructions, dyeing; soiling, IEQ issues, chemistry, principles, cleaning methods, problem areas and solutions, cleaning categories and techniques related to commercial carpet cleaning. Learn how to put your commercial customers on a planned maintenance program. Complete spotting demonstrations of techniques for removing copier toner, mustard, shoe polish, paint, fingernail polish, coffee, red wine, ink, wax and more.

IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT)

April 9-10, 2008

This two-day course concentrates on technical procedures for the restoration of a fire and smoke damaged environment. Students will learn how to combine technical procedures with a practical approach to managing the job site and how that relates to pricing the job. This course includes: disaster categories, restoration alternatives, the fire cycle, chemicals, equipment, restoration safety, HAZMAT, structural restoration (ceilings, walls, fixtures, flooring, HVAC, unfinished areas, exteriors), contents restoration (fabric furnishings, hard furniture, window treatments, appliances, elec-tronics, clothing, high-value items, kitchen contents, moving and storage), and chemi-cals, equipment, and procedures for structural deodorizing.
